Snells Beach, Algies Bay, Martins Bay, Scotts Landing & Scandrett Regional Park
Mahurangi East includes Whisper Cove, Brick Bay, Snells Beach, Algies Bay, Scott's Landing, Martins Bay and Scandrett Regional Park.
The Mahurangi East peninsula offers a variety of sightseeing options such as:
Brick Bay Sculpture Trail
The walkway from Brick Bay to Snells Beach, which showcase ancient pohutakawa trees at the southern end of the walkway.
The Donkey Sanctuary at Highfield Garden Reserve (Free entry)
Mahurangi Oysters - Farm Tour.
At the end of the peninsula lies Scandrett Regional Park, which was brought from the Auckland Regional Council in 1998 from the Scandrett family. The original homestead and farm buildings have all been restored. The Regional Park offers some fantastic walkways, which provides you with coastal views out towards Kawau Island from Mullet Point. Mullet Point was renowned for its fishing to local Maori and there are a number of historic settlement areas, including two pa sites.
Also situated at the end of the Peninsula is Martins Bay. Martins Bay is a beautiful, safe sandy beach with all-tide swimming and plenty of shade from the enormous pohutakawa trees. Right beside the beach is Martins Bay Holiday Park
The Mahurangi Regional Park reaches from the south-east across the bay to encompass Scott's Landing and the Scott Homestead, once a hotel and boarding house in the mid-1800s, at the centre of a shipbuilding business. The homestead has been beautifully restored, and the grassy grounds are prefect for a picnic. Paddle, swim, or at low tide, walk out to pretty Casnell Island offshore.
